We seek an innovative integrated Islamic studies curriculum specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for mapping a comprehensive, cross-disciplinary curriculum that aligns with the overall mission of Yaqeen to instill students with religious clarity and conviction and produce contributors to society that also align with state and national standards, and for providing professional development and training for teachers to implement Yaqeen curricula effectively. This role requires a blend of curriculum design expertise, strong instructional skills, and the ability to mentor and support teachers in a collaborative environment. Your day-to-day consists of engaging with content and teaching experts to understand audience needs and how Yaqeen can best address these needs through its unique curriculum and build the capacity of educators.

Responsibilities

  • A thorough analysis of all existing curricula, including Yaqeen’s current thematic curriculum. This will include meetings with stakeholders from within and outside of Yaqeen.
  • Develop Yaqeen’s Integrated Curriculum Framework/Philosophy, including defining our approach to ‘integration’ and its implication on Islamic Studies for K-12 schools.
  • Develop and map an integrated K-12 curriculum that aligns with Yaqeen’s vision, best educational standards and incorporates cross-disciplinary learning.
  • Ensure the curriculum is inclusive, culturally responsive, and supports diverse learning needs and styles.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and teachers to integrate content across subjects, including humanities, arts and social-emotional learning.
  • Continuously review and update curriculum materials based on feedback, student performance data, and educational trends.
  • Develop assessment tools and strategies to measure the effectiveness of the integrated curriculum and student learning outcomes.
  • Analyze student performance data to inform curriculum adjustments and professional development needs.
  • Provide reports and recommendations to school leadership on curriculum effectiveness and areas for improvement.
  • Work closely with school administrators, instructional coaches, and other stakeholders to ensure that curriculum goals align with school and district objectives.
  • Internally, work with Yaqeen’s curriculum team (including lesson planners, and SMEs from various departments including marketing, research, product management, etc.) to support the testing of the curriculum through design and development phases with users (interviews, focus groups) in K-12 settings and provide feedback.
  • As needed, participate in curriculum planning meetings, professional development sessions, and educational conferences.
  • Manage a team of content and pedagogical experts to collaborate on curriculum mapping and teacher training.
  • Design and deliver comprehensive development programs for teachers implementing Yaqeen’s integrated curriculum and thematic units.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and support to teachers, including clinical observations, feedback sessions, and modeling effective instructional strategies.
  • Develop training materials, guides, and resources to support teachers in curriculum implementation and instructional practices.
  • Facilitate workshops, seminars, and professional learning communities to foster continuous improvement and teacher collaboration.

Required skills

  • Post-graduate education in Curriculum Design, Instruction, Education or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum design principles, instructional strategies, and assessment practices.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in K-12 education, including teaching and curriculum development.
  • Experience in providing professional development and teacher training.
  • Deep commitment to Islam and knowledge of Islamic tarbiyya paradigm and Islamic sciences
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse and dynamic educational environment.
  • Proficiency in educational technology and digital tools for curriculum development and teacher training.
  • Experience with integrated or interdisciplinary curriculum models.
  • Familiarity with current educational trends and best practices in curriculum and instruction.
  • Previous experience in a leadership or coaching role.
